The technical process

1. Preparation (sand blasting/washing): removal of residues and roughening of the zinc layer (sweeping).

 2. Iron phosphating: additional chemical corrosion protection for a perfect bond between metal and paint.

 3. Electrostatic coating: even paint application using state-of-the-art spray guns, which completely encloses even the finest mesh sizes (e.g. 30/10).

 4. Curing: at 220°C the powder fuses into an extremely robust protective layer.

For technical reasons, please note that every workpiece may have a contact point. If this is not desired, we will gladly offer you rework of the workpieces.

Why choose powder coating from Fenau?

Certified quality from the region

We leave nothing to chance when it comes to finishing your gratings. Fenau relies on state-of-the-art plant technology and the in-depth expertise of our long-standing partner in the Nuremberg metropolitan area. Since 1991, surfaces have been processed here to the highest industrial standards. This decades of experience guarantees you not only an attractive surface, but a technically mature end product that withstands the heaviest loads.

Maximum adhesion through professional "sweeping"

The decisive difference lies in the pretreatment. Galvanized gratings often have a very smooth or passivated surface on which conventional paints can hardly achieve a lasting bond. That is why our gratings are "swept" before coating. In this special process, the surface is roughened and cleaned by corundum blasting (sand blasting) under controlled pressure.

  • Your benefit: The surface is enlarged microscopically, allowing the powder to anchor mechanically. This is the essential step for an extremely durable coating that will not flake off or be undermined even after years.

Highly resistant stoving process at 180°C to 200°C

After meticulous preparation, electrostatic powder coating (EPS) is applied. The powder particles are electrically charged and wrap around every single bar of the grating like a uniform armor – including the hard-to-reach intersections. In the subsequent curing process, the powder is cross-linked at object temperatures of approx. 180°C to 200°C and baked on insolubly. The result is a highly impact-, scratch- and weather-resistant surface that offers a significantly higher coating thickness and elasticity than wet paint.

Maximum flexibility for every project

Whether you are carrying out a private building project or planning large-scale industrial projects – we adapt to your requirements. Our range of services extends from the individual one-off piece for your private light well or basement stairwell through to industrial series production for professional steel and plant construction. You benefit from a huge selection of RAL colors and various surface textures (matt, gloss or fine texture) that take your gratings to the next level, both functionally and aesthetically.
