Weld-on hinges: secure connections for doors and gates

Weld-on hinges connect door and gate frames (fixed part) to the door or gate leaf (moving part). They are sometimes referred to as hinges or hinge strips. As weld-on hinges, they are secured by welding, which distinguishes them, for example, from screw-on hinges. At FeNau, you can purchase welded hinges made from S235JR steel with load-bearing capacities ranging from one hundred to several hundred kilograms. When buying from the wrought iron range in our online shop, take advantage of the well-known FeNau benefits: fair prices, short delivery times and low delivery costs.

Weld-on strip: Choose the right load-bearing capacity!

The basic structure of a welded hinge is easy to explain and is essentially always the same for two-part welded hinges. There is the lower part, which is attached to the door or gate frame, and the upper part, to which the door or gate is attached. The so-called spindle acts as the pivot point. When purchasing welded hinges, it is important to select a suitable load capacity. In the FeNau range, the lower load capacity limit starts at around 100 kilograms and the upper limit is around 750 kilograms. The load capacity should not correspond exactly to the weight of the door, but should be higher, because the door’s weight is not the only factor placing a load on the welded hinge. A high frequency of door openings or strong gusts of wind in the case of outward-opening doors can temporarily increase the load significantly. The width of the door being fitted can also influence the load capacity. From a width of approximately one metre, the load can increase to such an extent that the specified load-bearing capacity values are no longer accurate. Last but not least, you should pay attention to exactly what the load-bearing capacity specifications refer to. The specifications in the FeNau online shop refer to the fixing of a door or gate using two welded strips.

FeNau welded brackets are made of S235JR steel

The welded strips in FeNau’s wrought iron range are made of S235JR steel. This material is well suited for welding. It also offers good strength and is highly malleable. The material can be galvanised or painted at a later stage to enhance protection against adverse environmental conditions. The weld-on strips form part of the extensive wrought iron range in the FeNau online shop, where you will find over 2,000 wrought iron items. The weld-on strips are complemented, for example, by anchor plates and cover caps, as well as decorative elements such as ornate house numbers, letters and fence finials. The Baroque range within FeNau’s wrought iron collection is also particularly attractive.
