90-degree elbow (welded fittings, Type 2 DIN)

// 90° Rohrbogen Bauart 2 DIN für kompakte Rohrführungen und stabile Verbindungen.

Filter products

Special welded fittings for the tightest of spaces: Here you will find 90° stainless steel pipe bends of Type 2 (formerly DIN 2605-1 / now EN 10253 Type 2D). These bends are characterised by their extra-short radius and are ideal for compact plant engineering in V2A and V4A.

⚠️ Please note: This is NOT the standard!

Are you looking for the standard elbow? Then you will usually need Type 3 ($r \approx 1.5 \times d$).
The elbows in this category are Type 2 and have a significantly tighter radius ($r \approx 1.0 \times d$). Please check your requirements before ordering, as these elbows are not interchangeable.

The technical difference: Type 2 vs. Type 3

Whilst Type 3 is the industry standard, Type 2 is used wherever every millimetre counts. The difference lies in the geometry:

  • Type 2 (here): Radius ≈ 1.0 x pipe diameter.
Example (42.4 mm pipe): The radius is only approx. 42.5 mm . The bend is extremely compact.
  • Type 3 (standard): Radius ≈ 1.5 x pipe diameter.
Example (42.4 mm pipe): The radius is approx. 63.5 mm .

Applications for "short bends"

Due to the tighter radius, there is slightly higher flow resistance. These bends are therefore specifically used where the installation space does not allow for any other solution:

Apparatus & vessel construction

Where pipework must be routed close to boiler walls or inside machinery.

Compact manifolds

For the construction of space-saving manifold beams or pump groups where the standard radius would protrude too far.

Materials & finishes

As Type 2 is used almost exclusively in technical installations (and rarely in designer railing construction), the focus is on technical functionality:

  • V2A (1.4307) & V4A (1.4404): Available in both common stainless steel grades for normal to high corrosion resistance.
  • Industrial quality: Usually unpolished (matt), heat-treated and pickled, optimally prepared for TIG welds.

All bends feature standardised wall thicknesses and V-groove preparation for professional butt welding.
