Curved & angled support pins: The solution for corners and offsets
A handrail does not always run in a perfectly straight line over the post. As soon as you need to go round a corner when constructing a balustrade or wish to offset the handrail to the side, standard straight pins are no longer sufficient. In this category, you will find our special stainless steel support pins for complex geometries. They enable clean corner joints and elegant transitions without the need for time-consuming on-site welding work.
Which shape for which situation?
We stock three main variants of curved connecting pins, each designed to solve a specific structural challenge:
1. Support pins, 135° bent (for corners)
The classic choice for corner solutions. When two handrails meet at a 90° angle (or 45° mitre), this pin ensures a correct connection. It is permanently bent to 135° and is ideal for connecting corner posts to the handrail bracket in a visually appealing way.
2. Cranked pins (2x bent / S-shape)
These pins form an "S-shape". They are used when the handrail is not to sit centrally over the post, but requires a lateral offset. This is often necessary to increase the passage width on staircases or to create more space between the handrail and the wall.
3. Support pins "for bending" (flexible)
Our solution for custom angles. These solid pins feature a tapered ‘waist’ in the middle. At this point, the stainless steel pin can be bent to the desired angle using the appropriate tool (and a little force). Perfect for old buildings or irregular angles that do not conform to any standard.
Technical details
Our bent variants are also available in standard diameters (Ø 12 mm / Ø 14 mm ) and connection types. Choose between models with external/internal threads for screw mounting or variants with a smooth end for welding . Manufactured from high-quality V2A stainless steel for a durable and corrosion-resistant finish.
